LAS VEGAS AMONG THE FIRSTS TO GET T-MOBILE’S NEW PHONE TECHNOLOGY AND WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOUR PRODUCTION

Most people are probably very excited for the new 5G technology to become available. Internet speeds will now range from 10 to 100 times faster than the 4g network that is currently running and latency issues will become a thing of the past. As audio mixers, that means we’re super excited about being able to share files faster, but super bummed about what it means for some of our gear. Half of the spectrum that is currently used for wireless microphones, IFBs and Comms will no longer be available. That means we are forced to fit everything we currently use into the remaining space. Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York City are among the first cities to get this new 5G technology.

What does this mean for you, as a producer? You need to make sure you have someone on set that has the correct frequency ranges and knows what’s going on with 5G and the bandwidths. You need someone who understands how difficult it could be to set up those items in a high traffic area, like a convention center or hotel. You need someone who is FCC licensed and capable of taking on this new challenge.

Stickman is a company that knows licensed mixers and loves a challenge. We are ready for 5G!   We are investing in new gear and taking the time to make sure our mixers know what’s going on and where it’s happening. So bring it on 5G, we’re ready for the changes and the faster downloads!

The best solution for this problem is to make sure you book someone who is licensed.

Stickman Sound is licensed and we educate our freelancers in this area and encourage all mixers to get licensed as well!
